Music on Your Monterey

Every trip has its soundtrack—from laidback island tunes to classics from the surf-crazy sixties.

When you want to set the musical tone for your on-the-water adventure, how do you it? In today’s blog, we’re taking a look at a few easy ways to bring music—and the resulting laidback atmosphere—to your Monterey.

Make your own playlist

Why not start simple? Using a portable speaker or your Monterey’s built-in sound system, you can easily listen to your favorite tunes on the water, wherever you go. Just set up a digital playlist before you head out so that you’re in control of the mood, the music, and the hits you hear from the water.

Enjoy dinner and a show…

Looking for a laidback way to enjoy dinner—maybe with some music along the way? Cruise up to a waterfront café where nightly musical performances are a part of the menu. The Florida Keys, for example, are known for this kind of setup (and with miles of shoreline to explore, it’s hard to go wrong wherever you roam). It’s the perfect way to enjoy sunset or a lunchtime meal alongside the atmosphere of fun and relaxation that music provides.

… or an on-the-water concert

Why not take it a step further? On-the-water concerts are perfect for boaters who want to jam out to their favorite musicians, without leaving the comfort and style of their Monterey. One such event is Aquapalooza, a maritime party that’s cruising into Sarasota this August. Also be sure to consider Humphrey's Concerts by the Bay in San Diego, where you’ll find musicians, comedians, and other acts performing throughout the summer.

Cruise with your favorite music

What if you could boat with the likes of your favorite musicians? Musical cruises exist to let you do just that. New York’s “Rocks Off Concert Cruise” gives you a chance to boat throughout New York Harbor while listening to your favorite tribute bands and local names. Later this year, you’ll also be able to attend the “Warped Rewind at Sea,” a Gulf of Mexico excursion that brings bands like Simple Plan and Good Charlotte to the high seas, where you can hear them like never before.

What’s your go-to boating tune, or the album you can’t get enough of on angling adventures? Let us know in the comments below!
