The starfish is a beautiful marine animal belonging to the Asteroidea class. It’s also known as a “sea star.” They are found in all of our world’s oceans, from the tropics to subzero polar temperate waters!
Most starfish species have five arms connected to a central circular body, but there are a few with more arms than this! The starfish feeds whenever it has an opportunity, and often times prey on smaller invertebrates. Starfish can live for 10 years or more!
Did you know there are more than 1,500 species of starfish living in our world’s oceans? Click through this week’s photo blog to learn about a few of our favorites!
