Shark Week Paella

Have you been watching Shark Week 2013 on the Discovery Channel? We sure have! It has been a great look into one of our oceans most misunderstood species. Despite popular belief, the shark prefers to dine on small clams, mollusks, fish and sometimes even other sharks, not humans! While you’re watching Shark Week, prepare the Ultimate Paella for a small taste of the sharks favorite foods.

  • Chicken, 1- 3 Lb (Cut into ten slices)
  • Olive OIl, ¼ C
  • Chorizo Sausage, 2
  • Black pepper, Kosher Salt
  • Onion, 1
  • Garlic, 4 Cloves
  • Parsley, Bunch
  • Spanish Rice, 4 C
  • Water, 6 C (Warm)
  • Saffron, (Be generous)
  • Clams, 1 D Littleneck (Scrub)
  • Lobster Tails, 2
  • Sweet Peas, ½ C

Directions:

Use a paella pan to heat oil on medium-high setting, and saute thick cut chorizo until it is brown in color, remove from burner and save. Place chicken skin-side down and brown each side, use tongs to turn, and season with salt and pepper, remove from burner and save.


Create sofrito by sauteing garlic, onions, and parsley. Cook mixture for about two to three minutes on a medium heat setting. Add tomatoes to pan and cook until contents become caramelized. Add in rice and stir fry, add water and simmer for ten minutes. Mix slightly so that everything becomes evenly cooked.
