Memorial Day in the USA
Memorial Day, the last, long weekend in May, is the unofficial start of summer in the United States.
It originated as a day to “remember, reflect and honor those who have given their all in service to their country,” and expanded to include those who stand up for their country.
The weekend is duly noted and celebrated with parades, ceremonies of remembrance and memorial services, picnics, cookouts, pool parties, games, sports, balloons, fireworks, concerts, 10K runs, regattas and other races, exhibits, restaurant specials, even store sales.
Whether you’re celebrating Memorial Day weekend on land or out on the water on your Monterey, remember, there will be plenty of other families out there, as the number of travelers, visitors and people heading outdoors increases dramatically. Reports estimate close to 33 million people will be traveling this weekend.
Prepare your Monterey for any excursion with all the gear, supplies and safety items you may require, and don’t forget a good camera to document the day.
Hope you enjoy your Memorial Day weekend, and remember to honor our veterans!
