2014 Central New York Boat Show: The Best of New York Boating
We hope you’re in New York this weekend for the 2014 Central New York Boat Show! The show is taking place this weekend at the New York State Fairgrounds in Syracuse. Step into the Center of Progress Building at the Fairgrounds and be sure to stop by our very own dealer, Frontenac Harbor, to take a look at the newest Monterey models! If you’re a New York local, Frontenac is your go-to family-owned stop, located in Union Springs.
Tired after a day of walking the show? Unwind on the water at some of our favorite New York boating spots:
Cayuga Lake, Finger Lakes
Frontenac Harbor is located right on Cayuga Lake, the longest of the aptly-named Finger Lakes in upstate New York. Here you’ll find expansive blue waters and, at many parts, a horizon only broken by rolling lakeside hills—a truly serene and natural treasure. Stay late to catch a beautiful sunset! The other Finger Lakes are also nearby: Seneca and Owasco Lakes are on either side of Cayuga.
Lake Ontario
A short drive northwest will take you to Lake Ontario, one of the Great Lakes and one of our favorites for freshwater boating. The lake is home to several baymouth bars and lagoons and, on the New York side, Sandy Island Beach State Park.
Thousand Islands
If you can make your trip a bit longer, head to the US-Canada border for your very own sightseeing cruise of the Thousand Islands region! The archipelago is located at the northeast corner of Lake Ontario, by the Saint Lawrence River, so while it might take you a few hours to drive up, you’ll be in for a treat. The almost-2000 islands range from tiny specks with just enough room for a tree to grow to islands with roads and schools. Heart Island is even home to a full-sized Boldt Castle!
