5 Fun Ways to Experience the Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show

The Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show is almost here! The beloved fall-time event is back with beautiful boats, bright, balmy weather and all the makings of a great, safe weekend by the water.

Monterey will be there to show you our latest models or simply serve as a friendly face on your trip to the aptly nicknamed “Venice of America.” Just read on as we share a few fun ways to experience the boat show weekend!

Safety first

This year, the much-anticipated Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show is taking additional precautions for you, your family and your fellow boaters’ safety! In addition to your go-to boat show gear (including a tote bag for carrying around the souvenirs and freebies you’re sure to find), bring along a mask as they will be required at this year’s event. Much of the show already happens outdoors, and guests will be asked to social distance from other parties during their time at the event.

Cruise the Intracoastal

Speaking of social distancing… (or should we say, coastal distancing?)

One of our favorite parts of boating in Fort Lauderdale is the friendly, serene atmosphere on the Intracoastal Waterway! They don’t call this city the “Venice of America” for nothing. As you meander past beautiful waterfront homes and lush natural vistas, you are also sure to see fellow boaters on vessels of all shapes and sizes, saying hello with a friendly wave as they cruise by. It’s the perfect environment for connecting with the cruising community while still staying a safe distance apart!

Find your perfect ride

One of the main attractions of any boat show is, of course, the beautiful boats to discover! If you’re in the market for a new Monterey, stop by and see what we’ve been up to with our luxury, smooth-riding features. If you’re already covered in the cruising department with a Monterey of your own, be sure to stick around to discover new fishing gear, water toys and accessories that can help take your adventure to the next level.

Brush up on your boating skills

In addition to endless boat show swag and marine accessories, one of the best things you can take away from this year’s show is some helpful know-how! See marine innovations in action at Aquazone, or help your child discover fishing fun with Hook the Future’s Kids’ Fishing Clinics, to name just a few great opportunities.

Have some Halloween fun

Boat show weekend just so happens to coincide with our favorite spooky holiday! Celebrate Halloween by sporting a favorite pirate costume on the water, decking out your boat or learning about local haunts. One popular spot is the Stranahan House Museum (Broward County’s oldest building), which you can observe from the water and is said to be haunted by the spirits of Frank and Ivy Stranahan.

We hope that these ideas help you make the most of your weekend at the boat show! Swing by, say “hi” and enjoy all that South Florida cruising has to offer.
